10/26/17 FASCINATION TOUR - PART 4

10/26/17 FASCINATION TOUR - PART 4

I think Appleton, Wisconsin might have the nicest people in America, excluding the one dude that works at the Radisson hotel on Superior St.  Let me rewind; we arrived at Gibson Music Hall, where Kurt, the owner and booker welcomed us with a fridge stocked full of Newcastle Brown, but told us to order anything we liked from the bar.  What a dang cool venue!  New equipment, an...

10/24/17 FASCINATION TOUR - PART 3

Holy moly, did we cook last night!  Not something I would expect for the second night on tour.  We did twelve Lonesome tunes, mostly burners, and one Pixies tune for good measure, (hey, we're a Boston band - got to represent).  There's something about the release of 60 minutes of music surrounded by 12 hour van drives, cheap gas station food, with cuts of shallow sleep.  Everything comes out fast, strong, and with conviction...

10/24/17 FASCINATION TOUR - PART 2

First show is down.  The boys and I got to ramble some around Madison, and now we're doing the same in Minneapolis.  I popped into B Side Records in Madison and scored a copy of Husker Du's Zen Arcade, and came close to spending way too much at Cheapo Records around the corner.  I'm trying to limit myself to one record a week...

Back in the van!  New rules of the trip:

1) No speeding, (might have to rename The Angel of Death to something more fitting)

2) Everyone listens to music through their own headphones

In my constant commitment to travel through life with as little as possible, I packed a tiny pair of earbuds.  My ears are sore from having them jammed...

7/19/17 SUMMER TOUR 2017 - PART 1

Greetings from Columbus, GA!  We're about midway through tour this time around, and no update...  Apparently we're partying too hard (wicked hahd for my friends back home).

The boys and I have been trying to film a little more video this time, so if you care, check out our Facebook page so catch some live Facebook shenanigans in the van, drunken sidewalk singalongs and whatever stupid thing we keep finding ourselves getting into...

4/20/17 SPRING TOUR 2017 - PART 2

Thursday, April 20th, 12:26 PM.  I'm riding shotgun typing on my new Bluetooth keyboard for my IPad (thanks Sally).  The Lonesome played a set at The Melody Inn in Indianapolis last night.  Our show in Cleveland unfortunately fell through, so it felt like a week between shows.  Good golly off days are the worst.  We can deal with the fatigue, the sleeping in parking lots, the starving off one meal a day - but if we don't get the chance to plug in and play loud, it just all seems so pointless...

4/18/17 SPRING TOUR 2017 - PART 1

Tuesday, April 18.  I'm writing this in a warm and reasonable place for once.  Tipico Coffee in Buffalo, NY.   Twenty minutesish ago, we were woken up to four pourovers in tiny mugs, and a bunch of bananas being presented to us by our gracious hosts - Sadie and Charlie.

We met Sadie yesterday when we stopped by Tipico Coffee after showing up at Mohawk Place some two hours too early for load in. We made up for our lack of sleep by over compensating...

3/19/17 TEXAS TOUR BLOG - PART 2

Holy moly.  I was really bad at all things social media this week, but SXSW was such an overwhelmingly great experience.  We made countless new friends (Duggan Flanakin, Evan McCloskey, Midnight Cities, Time out Timmy, Marianne Toilet and the Runs just to name a few).

The band slept in tents (well, about four a night tops) in Duggan's back yard, ate delicious food, laughed, smiled, sang, played music until we couldn't...

3/14/17 TEXAS TOUR BLOG - PART 1

We've been traveling for the better part of three days, leaving Boston, MA at 6 PM.  We stopped for pit stops in Knoxville when the van had a new light demanding we change its oil, and Nashville, where we crashed our friends the Daltons once again.  More Walker, more Moscow Mules, more hot chicken, and another round of goodbyes that happened much too quickly segued us into another brutal commute that led us to Keller, TX, some forty miles north of Dallas where we were welcomed into a friend's home...

2/26/18 FLORIDA TOUR BLOG - PART 6

Saturday, 7 PM or so.  I'm on the back porch of Shanghai Nobby in St. Augustine, at the very edge of The Bridge of Lions (easily the best bridge name in America).  This side seems hipper than the touristy side of town, and or not.  I was immediately met in an open arms from a helpful bar staff, who offered to help us in every way possible.  They took damn good care of us; I could never recommend this place enough to another touring band...
