3/19/17 TEXAS TOUR BLOG - PART 2
Holy moly. I was really bad at all things social media this week, but SXSW was such an overwhelmingly great experience. We made countless new friends (Duggan Flanakin, Evan McCloskey, Midnight Cities, Time out Timmy, Marianne Toilet and the Runs just to name a few).
The band slept in tents (well, about four a night tops) in Duggan's back yard, ate delicious food, laughed, smiled, sang, played music until we couldn't for the better part of the week.
Luckily for us, we landed a farmers market gig on the last day which helped make a dent in the cost of traveling this far. We avoided lodging in hotels this trip by either camping, driving through the night, or just flat out avoid sleeping, but even with gas alone, it cost us $500ish to get there and back. We were guaranteed $200 at the market for four hours of music, starting at the impossibly early time of 9 am. We got in from our gig the night before at 3 am, Lonesome camp was broken down by 6:30, and the van was packed at 7:30. Merch Girl Amanda and Band Mom Hallie worked the crowd and doubled that in tips. We're lucky dudes to have such great company and help.
