1/27/17 EARLY WINTER TOUR BLOG - PART 3
Friday, 4:33 pm. I'm outside the Goodwill in East Nashville. Everyone is inside looking for treasure, while I'm outside being an introverted songwriter. It's been fun, but I'm getting worn out from being constantly "on". We played two shows yesterday, one at TN Brewworks, the other at The Crying Wolf. Our show got bumped back a bit at the early show because they were releasing a new beer, and they had a ceremony with monks and all for the tapping (you can't make this stuff up folks). The beer (Belgian Tripel) was delicious, and we still got to play a set of songs unplugged style.
The second show was a little more interesting... an extremely intoxicated man grabbed my microphone and started singing some random song by Usher. Through red vision, I thought of 1) Kurt Cobain smashing his headstock into the dudes face, while Dave Grohl jumped from behind his set to his aid; 2) Keith Richards booting the heckler in the front row, (the Keith story being one of my favorite rock and roll stories, although they did barely sneak out alive, and their instruments were less fortunate.). Instead though, I just grabbed the mic sheepishly back, and we continued our set. Weird times, but you know what - I still would not change a thing about it. Music gives you so many strange experiences. I could be working at a bank.
All in all, we made $70 across both gigs, and of course got paid our "two drinks per band member". PBR this time, no half off a meal ticket.
